Right upon walking into this divine establishment, I knew I was about to indulge in some quality cuisine. The ambiance inside was inviting and dim, which made great for some good grub and nice wine with some friends. We had been waiting to go here for some time now, and it was surely worth the wait. It was quite the stormy evening and our table was placed at the front, with a window above us, so we got to enjoy the rest of the lightning storm and the hazed sky at dusk. Moving onto the more important part.....the freakin' food. UGH. Pizzas were absolutely perfect. We had a group of four and each pie came sliced into 4 pieces, which was rather convenient. We started our meal with two appetizers; the copious Parmesan Reggiano topped arugula salad and the prosciutto with burrata. May I please say, that whatever olive oil was used on both of those, was absolutely drinkable. The moment it touched my lips I was sent on a one way trip to heaven (with no plans to return as long as I have an endless supply of that EVOO). The plump burrata sat beautifully abed the layers of prosciutto, what more could I ask for? Each pizza was made with love and flavors to send you to off to another galaxy; we enjoyed the mushroom one, the shallot veggie, the soppressata and hot honey, and the classic smoked mozzarella. We will 100000000% be returning here because our bellies ran out of room and couldn't fit anything else. I can't wait to try the pastas and other dishes! The wine selection was lovely as well. I enjoyed some Visintini Pinot Grigio! Keep doing what you're doing Mission Pizza, you rule ) One happy customer.

Fantastic little place. My wife and I ordered the chefs menu, which comes in 5 courses. Each one was stunning and came out in a very timely manner. Very well balanced flavors, and the best octopus I've ever had. Servers were kind, friendly, and explained each dish to us in an easy to understand way. Its definitely a special occasion place, but its well worth the money you spend.

Hands down the best pizza I've ever had. Made a reservation for the Pizzakase at the counter. Getting to watch them make it and hearing their explanations on the inspiration of each dish as well as the origins of the ingredients elevated the experience even further. If it's in your budget I cannot recommend it enough. I will be coming back.

We dined as a group of 6 for the Pizzakase last evening. I have been anticipating this experience for quite some time as were our guests. Everything exceeded our expectations. It was the perfect amount of food as we left full, but not stuffed. Great service, great banter with the chef, explaining each of the courses, all around an incredible pizza experience!

My Husband and I had the Pizzakase on Valentine’s Day. It was 8 courses and all were so delicious! I highly recommend! The pizza crust alone is easily the best I’ve ever had. I can’t ever eat commercial pizza again. Reading some of the other reviews, I think some people didn’t know what to expect . It’s not your typical pizza place. We sat at the counter where we saw the food being prepared. I feel like the made the experience even more fun.

Mission Pizza never disappoints. It is simply the best pizza in the south and if you have the opportunity to reserve a pizzakese experience do it! I have driven over 2hours to get here and go a few times a year with new groups of friends. Everyone loves it and agrees it is absolutely magical. If you are a pizza fanatic then this is simply a must. In any big city, lines would be around the block.

I grew up on Italian food. Pizza & pasta were served a few times a week. As a top Google Guide with over 133 Million views on maps, I’m often invited to come eat & provide an opinion to chefs. I’m not going to lie, we are a bit spoiled. My husband also enjoys being my companion on these food trips. He (is quite the chef) so he also offers his opinion on the dishes & the service. It’s an adventure! We were at the NC Zoo, yesterday & googled places to eat near Winston Salem & Mission came up. After reading a bit about being James Beard Semi-Finalists, it Intrigued us, so we drove around an hour to get here. We ordered a pizza, two Pellegrinos, my husband got a beer, we also went with a Lobster fennel pasta & the broccolini. Here’s the family consensus, you may disagree but we all agreed on the following: For the money, the pizza should be bigger. It was good, yes, but 25 for a Soppresata pizza that barely feeds two.....Truthfully, that’s too much. Please note: All 3 of us agreed on that. The lobster pasta with fennel was very tasty In fact, hands down, my favorite of the visit. And last, the Broccolini was okay. If we happen to be in the area again, I might want to try more off the menu. Check them out for yourself & Buon Appetito Josephine Local Guide

Became aware of this restaurant while watching an episode of NC Weekend on UNC TV that showcased it. We rarely (see also never) venture to “The Dash” so we planned a one-day road trip to visit. The first indication that we were in for a wonderful dining experience was when I made an on-line reservation and was required to place a 60 deposit (applied to the bill at the end so don’t panic frugal friends). MPK is in the W-S downtown district where we found lots of shops and galleries to wander through-a nice surprise. MPK is very unassuming from the outside. The interior decor was sparse (by design I think) and I would describe it as a great example of modern industrial minimalism. The space was very clean and squared-away. Concrete and wood prevail in a dimly lit galley style dining space with tables along one wall and a high bar on the other that bellies up to the kitchen. This puts the focus on the wide open kitchen space where the chefs use a wood fired oven to spin their magic. The menu was limited to a few (maybe 12-15 dishes) but in my dining experience this usually translates to a truly delicious dining experience as only the freshest ingredients are being used to create the tastiest meals. Side note: restaurants with tri-fold menus should always be avoided as they very rarely (never) provide a memorable dining experience (unless you count indigestion as memorable). These days, going out to eat is a luxury and we as patrons should expect a memorable dining experience and we got exactly that at MPK. We opted to give the chef an unbridled creative license to cook for us by opting for their Prix Fixe option-5 rounds of whatever the chef wanted to make for us. We made the correct choice for the chef embarked on a quest to bombard and lambaste our taste buds. Like a well-experienced prize fighter Chef came out swinging with a selection of delicious and savory creations. Round one: Chef softened us up with a tangy and savory vinaigrette dressed greens with fresh crabmeat that dazzled. Round two: An unexpectedly delicious mushroom farro with layered flavors and perfect texture had us on the ropes. Round three: Chef had us figured out by now and he was clearly setting us up for the knockout as he hit us with a plate of steamed clams and PEI mussels in a rich, slightly spicy garlic red sauce-our knees became weak. Round four: The knock out blow came in the form of a wood fired pepperoni pizza with their “roni butter” crust that had us staggering and we were down for the count. As we waived our white napkin in surrender our server cam to the rescue and presented us with a plate of braised, slightly candied pears on a bed of lemon panna cotta topped with toasted pine nuts. This dessert was truly a delicious way cap off the evening and revived us enough to get us back to the dressing room! Overall our evening at MPK was exceptional. We wish more restaurants would put forth this kind of effort to elevate their product and provide patrons with food that hits both belly and soul. Hey Chef, we want a rematch!!!
